Wow!!!!!!! My mind is officially blown. A huge round of applause for RenĂ©e Watson and the Random House team for pulling this all together! For all of you who missed our segment on NBC Nightly News, here it is for your viewing pleasure! I’m so thrilled and honored to be a part of this project.

    Great segment. Renee and the kids looked so comfortable on camera. I love that the book title was shown and said several times.

    And Shadra your house looked even better on camera. Did you two, have a good turn out at the book signing?

    We are very proud of it~

    My “house”? Not sure what you mean…. The signing wasn’t as heavily attended as we hoped it would be, but the people that did make it out were greatly appreciated and seemed to really enjoy themselves.

    I meant the houses in the book that are almost under water. That image looked great on camera.

    That was wonderful Shadra! I really enjoyed the presentation!
    It was a perfect touch being able to have the video in the home of one of the children who suffered in the hurricane and inspired the book!

    Ah, thanks! I was blown away at seeing all of the image on the telly. My fav. was Keesha and her mom making jambalaya. That’s probably my favorite in the book~

    Cleveland was so lucky to have you visit and inspire artists here as part of the Our Children Can Soar exhibit. You are definitely SOARING!!

    Amazing to see so much of the book on a high profile show like this! The jambalaya illustration is also my favorite.
