I was honored to be interviewed last year by Mary Napoli for an article she proposed for the Children’s Literature Assembly’s (CLA), Journal of Children’s Literature. Her article is titled, “Children’s Illustration as a Healing Process: Exploring the Work of Shadra Strickland” (I know, impressive right ;-)). The article was accepted and is available in the Fall 2010 issue of JCL (v36 n2) (download here). This piece was sparked by a talk I gave on a panel called “Biographies: Bring Lives to Life”. Claudia Christensen Haag and Lettie K. Albright, of Texas Woman’s University, also contributed an article that summarized the workshop which is included in the Spring 09 issue.
The Journal of Children’s Literature is a refereed journal devoted to teaching and scholarship in the field of children’s literature. It is the product of the Children’s Literature Assembly of NCTE and is published twice annually.
THANK YOU and KUDOS to Mary Napoli (Assistant Professor of Reading and Children’s Literature – Penn State Harrisburg) for an outstanding interview, what a great way to share the work~
