Philly Reads!

Philadelphia Reads (64 of 66)
Sadly, I missed the Philly book festival three weeks ago due to school commitments, but I did make it to Philly afterwards for a presentation with second graders sponsored by PECO Energy in conjunction with Philly Reads. It was a great day of book and art talk. Each student took a signed book home and got their picture taken with a “famous” illustrator (that’s me). I am so grateful to Vanesse Lloyd-Sgambatti for coordinating this event. She is truly an ambassador for African American children’s books.

Sharing my work with young kids is always so much fun. They are excited and interested in the entire process. Having a background in teaching certainly helps. Though I am at the university level now, all of the teachers could smell my elementary school experience a mile away. It was a great day. Here are a few pics!

Many thanks to everyone and a great big thanks to Chick-Fil-A for catering the event!
Hope to see you again soon Philly!
