On January 31, my first author/illustrated book Jump In! will have been in the world for an entire year and what a year it has been! If you follow me on social media you will see all of the places that I got to travel to this year to celebrate the book. Jump In! also made the Kirkus Best Read Aloud list and was recently named a 2024 Book All Georgians Should Read!
This list is created by Georgia Center for the Book hosted by the Dekalb County Public Library, which is where I spent buckets of time as a young hopeful creator reading books! It’s such an honor to have my book recognized by my hometown. To have your book recognized by any committee is a huge honor. There are sooooo many great books published every year.
That being said, finishing a book is reward enough. The creative process is not for the faint of heart. It takes courage, dedication, and love to keep showing up at the drawing table. Congratulations if you finished a book last year!
