Okay, so I was supposed to be in Paris for a year. That has not happened. Due to work and money, the Paris trip has been postponed. I am sure I will get there eventually; just not when I expected.
The next chapter of my life will be in Balimore, Maryland where I will join the illustration faculty at Maryland Institute College of Art. It was one of those opportunities that “found me” through a friend. Though teaching was not in my immediate future plans, it was always in my “one day” future plans. “One day” has come.
I am thrilled to have this opportunity and I am sure that the students and I will learn a lot from each other.
What about the books? The books are still in the works. I think that teaching will keep me inspired to do better work. I find that when I have other creative outlets and responsibilities, my work is stronger. Working full time here in GA hasn’t been as glamorous as I hoped it would be. I miss my art homies, living in a walking city and NY (though I don’t miss living there). Baltimore will provide easier access to all of those things.
So, as Jay-Z says, “on to the next one”. Can’t wait to find a cupcake spot in B-more!

That is great news. The only thing better will be when MICA pays for you to take a sabbatical in Paris…or just has you teach a semester there. I think you will love it there. Julie has done some things with them for her job and she looked at MICA for college long ago. Baltimore is a great, livable city and I know you will be a fabulous teacher.
