Grand Prix Drawing

Today was the first day of my Visual Journalism class. Luck has it that Baltimore is hosting the 2011 Grand Prix. I took the students down to the Baltimore Convention Center to draw race cars at the Paddock. For many of us, it was a brand new experience. The drawings were impressive from everyone! I was so pleased that my students jumped right in and drew without fear. I can’t wait to see how far we can go in this class. Here is my best drawing of the day.

Daly, Guerrieri, and Newgarden

My students were rockstars today. They dug right in and even had pit crews asking them to come closer and draw the machines up close! Stellar~ The highlight of today was having Shawn Grizmacher, a blogger for the Indy 500 ask to photograph the students’ drawings and use them on his blog! Not bad for the first day of class, huh? Stay tuned for the link~
