Out With The Old . . .

We are in the thick of 2014 and I am starting it off with a new look. Shadra Strickland Illustration will now come to you in the form of JUMP IN STUDIO. Why the change? Along with all things book and art related, I am gearing up to do more community outreach in the form of school visits, community workshops, and mentoring programs.

Benjamin Banneker Museum

I am thrilled to join the Benjamin Banneker Museum again this February to celebrate champions of civil rights. Students will learn effective problem solving skills while enriching their knowledge of the civil rights movement and those pioneers who made great change in our country. Each student will take home a signed copy of WHITE WATER to add to their personal library.

Many thanks to Willa Banks for inviting me to Banneker Museum for a second year. Last year’s program was a great success~

SCBWI Winter Conference

February 20-23 children's authors and illustrators will descend upon NYC for this year's Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Winter Conference. On Sunday, the 23rd, I will share the stage with Peter Brown, Raul Colon. Marla Frazee, Oliver Jeffers and Arthur Levine to discuss THE ART OF THE PICTURE BOOK.
