Always Best Care & The Philly African American Book Festival

On Saturday I attended the 24th annual African American Book Festival in Philadelphia. It is one of my favorite events of the year because I get to celebrate with many of the brightest in African American children’s book literature. I also get to meet many of my facebook friends and followers who come up for the event.

The Philly book festival was created by Vanesse Lloyd-Sgambatti and has just celebrated its 24th year! What a legacy. The African American Children’s Book Fair is one of the oldest and largest single-day events for children’s books in the country. It features nationally known bestselling authors and illustrators, many of whom have won some of the most prestigious literary awards including the American Library Association Coretta Scott King Award. These authors and illustrators have produced some of the best books of our generation.

Along with greeting book buyers and young readers this year, I was happy to meet members of the Always Best Care Senior Services; a leading provider of non-medical in home care and free assisted living placement for seniors. This year Always Best Care Senior Services of Philly bought copies of Sunday Shopping and Ira’s Shakespeare Dream to use in special programs at the fair. They also manned a table, provided giveaways, and was one of the overall sponsors of the book festival.
